How about them Moose?!
As stated in a previous post - the AHL is probably one of the most fluid leagues in pro sports with the constant shuffling of rosters due to affiliate clubs recalling players, waivers, trades, and of course the unfortunate nature of injuries.
But having a deep pool of adaptable players is how you maintain momentum in a constantly changing environment.
Although still early - the Manitoba Moose have continued to show resilience, improving to an AHL 2nd-best record of 7-2-0, thanks to a pair of weekend wins on the road over the Iowa Wild. (Tied for 2nd with Laval)
Manitoba defeated Iowa 4-3 on Friday, before Dominic Divencentiis earned his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 Moose win on Saturday.
That line of Noah Gregor, Brayden Yager & Henry Thrun continue to click, and the team is seeing great numbers from Nikita Chibrikov, Danny Zhilkin, Parker Ford, Colby Barlow & Kevin He.
Both goaltenders maintain a solid status quo between the pipes, thanks in part to a great defensive core.
The Moose have only allowed 20 goals against in 9 games. They have a league-best 32.4% power play, and an impressive 86.8% penalty kill.
In 9 games, The Herd have played a solid 60+ mins every game, and despite 2 losses - they have shown they can win each contest.
As the ink dries on this metaphoric press report - the Moose are preparing for an 11:00am tilt on the road vs the Chicago Wolves - in a rare weekday morning start.
